The regular meeting of the ngo network for the protection of the rights of forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh was held

On September 20, an online meeting of the governing board of the NGO Network for the Protection of the Rights of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Artsakh (hereinafter referred to as the Network) took place.

The meeting was opened with a welcoming speech by Karen Zadoyan, the President of ALA and the General Secretary of the Network, who greeted the network members and wished for an effective discussion and identification of issues.

The first item on the agenda concerned the condemnation of vandalism against the cultural heritage of Artsakh. The text of the Network's governing board statement on this topic was discussed and approved.

Then, a summary report on the Network's activities from February to August 20, 2024, was presented. Special attention was paid to the operation of the trilingual website Armrights.am, which is aimed at protecting the rights of Artsakh Armenians.

During the meeting, several important issues were discussed, including:

  • The results of legal assistance provided to Artsakh Armenians by the Network's secretariat
  • Problems and issues raised by the Network
  • Videos prepared on the legal issues of Artsakh Armenians
  • Prospects for cooperation with state bodies

The organization of workshops and meetings in the CSO-Government and CSO-Local Self-Government formats in the near future was also discussed. The members of the governing board presented proposals aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the program and improving the achievement of goals.

At the end of the meeting, participants shared their opinions on the actions carried out within the framework of the program and the electronic platform for the protection of the rights of Artsakh Armenians.

The "Strengthening Mechanisms for Protecting the Rights of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Nagorno-Karabakh" project is implemented by the Armenian Lawyers' Association in cooperation with the "Harmony" Shushi Women's Public Organization, within the framework of the "Monitoring of Justice Sector Reforms in Armenia" (www.juremonia.am) project funded by the European Union.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the integration of forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh in their new communities of residence in Armenia by strengthening mechanisms for protecting their rights, raising the level of legal awareness of their rights and access to justice, and protection.
